Q: How do I use this app?
A: Click on the Foods tab to find the food you have eaten. You can click through the different categories or type in the Search box. After you have found the food click on the "Add to Journal" button to add it to the Journal. The Journal tab will keep track of the daily total. You can also click on the Exercises tab to enter calories burned and the Weight tab to track weight loss.

Q: What is a Food Score?
A: The "Food Score" is useful for diets that track a single number. For those diets that track only calories, the Food Score can equal the amount of calories in a food item. By default this is what the Food Score is set to. Some diets (like Weight Watchers) use a formula to come up with a single number and you can change the app settings for those diets. Depending on the diet, many users ignore the Food Score all together and just look at the Journal tab for a summary of all nutrients they have consumed for the day.

Q: I'm counting just calories. What should my settings be?
A: You do not have to change the settings after downloading from the App Store. If you need to change the settings back to the default:
  • Click on the More tab
  • Click on Settings
  • Change the Food Score settings to the following:
    • Calories: 1
    • Fat: 0
    • Carbs: 0
    • Fiber: 0
    • Max Fiber Limit: 0
    • Protein: 0
    • Cholesterol: 0
    • Sodium: 0
    • Sugars: 0

Q: I'm on Weight Watchers. What should my settings be?
A: If you would like to calculate Weight Watchers Points:
  • Click on the More tab
  • Click on Settings
  • Change the Food Score settings to the following:
    • Calories: 50
    • Fat: 12
    • Carbs: 0
    • Fiber: 5
    • Max Fiber Limit: 4
    • Protein: 0
    • Cholesterol: 0
    • Sodium: 0
    • Sugars: 0
That will calculate the correct point values. Also, we suggest changing the Food Score Allowance to match your daily Weight Watchers Points limit:
  • Click on the More tab
  • Click on Settings
  • Click on Allowance Settings
  • Change Daily Food Score to your daily Weight Watchers limit

Q: I'm counting carbs. What should my settings be?
A: Most carb counting diets do not count the total number of carbohydrates but rather the net carbs. If your diet calculates net carbs as total carbs minus fiber, you can make the Food Score equal to the net carbs by doing the following:
  • Click on the More tab
  • Click on Settings
  • Change the Food Score settings to the following:
    • Calories: 0
    • Fat: 0
    • Carbs: 1
    • Fiber: 1
    • Max Fiber Limit: 0
    • Protein: 0
    • Cholesterol: 0
    • Sodium: 0
    • Sugars: 0

A: To add a custom food item:
  • Click on the Foods tab
  • Click on "Enter a Custom Food"
  • Fill out the form

  • Find the food you would like to make a Favorite
  • Click on the "Add to Favorites" button

Q: How do I add a food item to a different day?
A: To add a food item to a different day:
  • Click on the Foods tab
  • Find the food item you would like to add
  • Click on the "Add to Journal" button
  • Click on Date
  • Change the date sliders on the bottom
  • Click on the Add button in the upper-right

Q: How do I delete a food item from the Journal?
A: To delete a food item from the Journal:
  • Click on the Journal tab
  • Scroll down to find the day you would like to delete an entry
  • Click on the day
  • Scroll down and click on the entry you would like to delete
  • Click on the "Delete from Journal" button

Q: How do I email the Journal to myself?
A: To email a CSV (comma separated values) file:
  • Click on the Journal tab
  • Click on the Email button in the upper right
  • Click on the Send button in the upper right
You can then save the contents of the email as "journal.csv" and open it in a spreadsheet program like Microsoft Excel.

Q: Does the amount of calories burned depend on my weight?
A: Yes. Be sure to set your weight in the Weight tab to get a better estimate of how many calories you burned for exercising.

A: To change the weight units:

  • Click on the weight unit to change it
